Marlene Stanford Cox earned a BFA in Art History and Painting from the University of Minnesota. Her use of unique blending of Eastern and Western philosophies in art add an impressionistic flavor to the watercolor paintings she produces. Cox brings her love of nature to life with Masa paper, oriental brushes, Sumi ink, watercolors, and a method known as “The Crinkling Technique.”
Winslow Homer is a tremendous influence in Marlene’s work.
Marlene Cox’s paintings have earned her awards in Minnesota, Michigan, and Florida. Her work is also displayed nationally in various corporations, banks, and private collections.
A native of Minnesota, Marlene now resides there with her husband Jack, who has been supportive of her career since the 1960s.
