Testimonials

Our commitment to your satisfaction is our top priority. Read below to see what some of our clients have had to say.

“ I’ve had the distinct pleasure of knowing Dan for over 15 years. It goes without saying that Dan’s photographic eye and technical skills are incredible. This is proven by the fact that his work has been on the cover of so many magazines. Another side of this unique human being is his passion, dedication, and determination to give back to Mother Nature. Educating the world on her magnificent beauty and awe-inspiring wonder always remains a top priority for Dan. His countless hours as a PBI volunteer have included his hands-on participation in the mapping of polar bear maternal dens in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the Adventure Learning Program, and the International Polar Bear Husbandry Conference. This strong commitment to give back to the Far North that he loves puts an additional dimension into his work that is rare in today’s world and therefore makes him a hero in our eyes. This world is a lot better off because of Dan’s dedication to this planet’s wildlife.””

“On working with Dan: I have always been concerned about wildlife photographers, and ethics in getting the photo. Dan quelled my concerns about himself rather quickly. From our initial phone conversations and his sharing of unrelated photos for our programs, I got a feeling of a good guy and became open to working with him. Dan came to Alaska to photograph Snowy Owls on our long-term study. Although I/we were stringent about photographer rules, Dan complied with everything we asked of him. In a very short time we could see Dan could be trusted with our wishes regarding Snowy Owl disturbance. Dan even spent considerable time photographing the brown lemmings. These lemmings are what dictate the Snowy Owl breeding success in our area. Anyway, it’s been many years and several projects that Dan and I have collaborated on. He is a conscientious ethical wildlife photographer who cares deeply about wildlife and wildlife conservation. He kindly donates his time, and results of his widely acclaimed photographs to many groups needing help. Although I admire many of Dan’s personal and professional qualities, the one character trait that stands out is Dan’s work ethic. He is a true field photographer, patiently spending hours upon hours of time waiting for the setting or scene that stirs him. You might call it the patience of an owl. He and his wife/business partner Tanya have also become my good friends. Denver Holt Director, Owl Institute ”

“You are the 'Makers of Dreams"! ...it has been a dream since childhood to travel to Africa to see the animals. To have the opportunity to do a photographic safari with you (both of you) was the gift of a lifetime. Your organization, communication, leadership, mentorship, and friendship were all of the highest quality throughout this experience. Having gone on the great Katmai bear trip, I had high expectations for the Kenya trip, and those expectations were exceeded everyday of the trip. When I show my pictures to friends, the comment that is repeated over and over again is 'I can't believe you saw and experienced all of that in just two weeks time!' Thanks, beyond words, to both of you for all that you did to make this opportunity available to us lucky folks...”

“ Just wanted to express my thanks for the two seminars I attended on Tuesday, it was nice meeting both you and your wife. Your images are tremendous and your obvious love for wildlife and landscape very evident. It was a pleasant change to listen to someone so modest and could also express oneself without the air being blue. Hope you both had a safe journey home. Living in Northern Ireland it would be a bit difficult to attend a one day workshop! But who knows maybe my wife and I can arrange a holiday sometime in Montana and pick up a workshop. ”

“Almost 2 years ago in National Geographic, your photos were in the February 2005 edition. Your photographs of the great gray owls were beautiful and incredible. Especially "April in Montana" . Of course the writing was great, but your short article about the disappearing owls touched my heart. I too hope those owls found a new home. These are places where humans shouldn't be - the old forests, the endangered colder climates. Hopefully one day we will have respect for the paradise we live on. I wish you well and hope that you are sometimes hearing the "hoo-hooing" of the owl family.”

“Dear Beth, We would like to thank you and to Daniel J. Cox for giving us the permission to use Daniel’s two brown bear cub photographs on our Brown Bear Education Project web page. Brown Bear Education Project is Turkey’s first education project on brown bears and the main purpose of the project is to create awareness about brown bears among people in Turkey. Brown bear is Turkey’s largest carnivore species and it is a protected species. However because of the bear human conflict, bears are killed illegally in major brown bear areas. Within the framework of our project, we are working with locals to educate them about brown bears and by working with them on the ground, demonstrate how to live in bear habitats. We are also working with K-12 children and teachers and conduct educational activities to educate them about brown bears. ”

“Thanks so much for this ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL print. It gives me the shivers. It is so beautiful! I got the tracking notification first so responded to that email with thanks, but am happy to do so again and so appreciate your ongoing support. In the past, the Natural Exposures items are the TOP attention draws at the auction! Thanks again.”

“ I would like to thank you for your generous gift of $2500 to the National Wildlife Federation (NWF). As requested, your gift will be restricted to the Wildlife Conflict Resolution project. This project supports the programs that helps solve problems between wildlife and livestock in grizzly, wolf and bison country. This is done by providing quality habitat while relocation livestock grazing to areas without significant wildlife conflicts. Your dedication will help NWF tackle this critical conservation issue, crafting practical, common-sense solutions that benefit wildlife people alike, Thank you for your generosity and commitment.”

“Thank you for your donation of the framed photo “Sunrise With Best Friend,” Valued at $400.00 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Dinner and Auction, “Rhinestones and Rawhide.” This event raises crucial funds to support the work we do for Gallatin County children and your donation is greatly appreciated. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a proved prevention program for youth, and the relationships formed changes the lives of our children and volunteers. Children matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister for a year or more perform better in school, improved relationships with their families and their peers, and they avoid drugs, alcohol and violence at much greater rates than their peers, Your support enables us to provide high quality, professional support to our volunteers, Children and parents, ensuring they enjoy positive productive and long-lasting friendships. The demand for Big Brothers Big Sisters has never been greater, and in the past few years our ability to meet those needs has dramatically improved. Thanks to the help of partners like you, we will expand our programs to reach many more children in Gallatin county. With your help, we are confident that the 2007 Dinner and Auction will be our most successful ever. ”

“Dear Daniel, Thank you very much for your recent donation to our photography fundraiser. This year we had a record amount of work and attendance was at its best. This year we were able to raise a second breaking amount of over $7,000. We plan to use the money we raised to purchase some new equipment and further our photographic journey. We hope to have images from the event on our website (www.stivers.org/photo) in the near future. The event was successful and without your help would not have been possible. Once again thank you very much. Sincerely, Stivers Photo Department Dayton, Ohio ”

“It has been my pleasure to work with photographer Dan Cox in our study of Steller’s Eiders, a threatened species of sea duck nesting in northern Alaska. While accompanying our researchers in 1999 and 2000, Dan was dedicated, pleasant and professional. Unlike other photographers I’ve worked with and heard about, Dan puts the welfare of the species and the interests of his host researchers first, He would readily forego the “perfect” shot to avoid disturbing nesting birds, and was willing to set down his camera and lend a hand if we needed help doing something. Even while photographing different species in the area, Dan sought our advice on ways to avoid causing undue disturbances to Eiders, and aasked our permission before entering sensitive areas. Dan Cox doesn’t stage shots. In my opinion, his photographs are of the highest quality, and accurately depict the natural history of his subjects and the actives of researchers. As a bonus, he has willingly shared his work with our office, free of charge, for use in our publications and outreach program. Although prior experiences has made me critical of professional wildlife photographers, I would happily welcome Dan Cox in to the Steller’s eider project in the future. ”
